Tinubu steps in, Buhari drives out to Daura

At exactly 11.05 a.m., President Bola Tinubu, began an inspection of the Guard of Honour and take his first salute as his first national assignment, five minutes after the lowering and hoisting of national and defence flags to end former President Muhammadu Buhari era and herald his own era.

Buhari drove in a convoy out of the Eagle Square, perhaps on his way to his country home in Daura, Katsina State.

At 11.13 a.m., the parade commander, Lt. Col Salihu Yusuf Hassan, sought permission to begin the parade.

A few minutes earlier, Senator Bola Tinubu was sworn in as the 16th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Kashim Shettima was also sworn in as the Vice President of Nigeria.

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola, administered the oath of office.
