After a mild drama in rejecting his official seat as new governor, Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf is lamenting the huge debt left him by his predecessor and has vowed to investigate it.
Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has indicated that his predecessor, former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has left a debt burden of 240 billion naira for his government
The newly sworn in Governor spoke at the Ante Chamber, Government House Kano shortly after Alhaji Usman Alhaji, the former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) handed over the documents to him on behalf of his erstwhile principal, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on Monday.
Apparently piqued by the summary of what he saw, he said his administration will certainly investigate the high debt profile, how Ganduje acquired them, and what they were used for.
He was accompanied to the official handing over ceremony at the Government House by the NNPP Transition Committee Chairman, Dr Baffa Bichi, Ganduje’s former, Deputy, Professor Hafiz Abubakar, Alhaji Salisu Yahaya Hotoro and hundreds of red cap wearing supporters.
Immediately after the brief ceremony, Yusuf moved with his convoy to Sani Abacha Stadium, where he joined hundreds of supporters for the swearing in by the Kano State Chief Judge.
