With self-imposed four hours to go, a Nigerian chef, and enterpreneur, 27-year-old Hilda Effiong Bassey, ( Hilda Baci), has upturned the Guiness Book of Records previous record held by an Indian chef, Lata Tondon in 2019, for the world’s longest marathon cooking.
Baci hit the 92 hours mark 12-noon on Monday, beating the Indian. Baci is still on with her cooking to beat the Indian who surpassed the former record holder by over 20 hours
Chef Hilda Baci is pushing for the 96 hours at 4pm Nigerian time (16:00 GMT).
She began cooking 4 p.m. last Thursday at Amore Gardens in Lekki, Lagos, and is being live-streamed on YouTube.
The restauranteur hit the three-day mark on Sunday as several attendees cheered in support.
The cook-a-thon’s Instagram account, @hildabacicookathon revealed that the event is headline sponsored by GB Foods. Other sponsors include Arla Foods, BaigeWallet, Filmhouse, Jumbo, Uber and Woodscope.
Many prominent Nigerians, including Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, have cheered on Baci, the Akwa Ibom State-born restaurateur.
