Bala Moh’d wins Bauchi, Omo-Agege loses in Delta; APC’s Nwifuru wins in Ebonyi

The Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, has lost his bid to be the next Delta State Governor after losing last Saturday’s gubernatorial election to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon Francis Oborevwori.

Obovrevwori polled 360,234 votes against Omo-Agege’s 240,229 votes, the INEC announced on Monday.

The State Returning Officer, Prof Georgewill Owuneri Abraham, declared the junior lawmaker winner in the election that saw the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Ken Pela, scored 48,047 votes.

In Bauchi State, incumbent Governor, Mr. Bala Mohammed, triumphed over the former Chief of Air Staff, Sadique Mohammed,

Senator Mohammed polled 525,280 votes, while Saddique Abubakar scored 432,272 votes.

The Chief Returning Officer, Prof Abdukarim Sabo Mohammed, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Dutse, Jigawa state, declared; “By the powers on confer on me by the Electoral Act and as the Chief Collation and Retuning officer of the 2023 Gubernatorial elections in Bauchi state, I, Prof Abdulkarim Sabo Mohammed, hereby declare that Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, gubernatorial candidate of the PDP, having scored the highest number of votes cast is hereby declared elected”.

Meanwhile, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the March 18 governorship election in Ebonyi State, Mr. Francis Nwifuru, has been declared winner of the election.

The State Returning Officer and the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Prof. Charles Igwe, said Mr Nwifuru got 199,131 votes while Ifeanyi Odii of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), got 80,191 votes.

The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Bernard Odoh, came third with 52,189 votes.

“I, Professor Charles Igwe, hereby certify that I am the Returning Officer of the governorship election held on 18th March 2023 in Ebonyi State.

“That Francis Nwifuru of the APC having satisfied the requirements of the law and having scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared winner and is returned elected,” he said
