“PDP Plateau & the litigation hurdle ahead”: The wrong conclusions of a gratuitous adviser

Must read

By Chris Adukuchili Hassan

The attention of the Peoples Democratic Party, Plateau State has been drawn to a write-up by one S.D. Dido, Esq. with the caption “PDP PLATEAU AND THE LITIGATION HURDLE AHEAD”.

Much as the piece is presented as an advice to the Party, the mischief and innuendos inherent in it is easily discernible. The conclusions reveal a person who is ill-informed about the current status of the State Exco led by Hon Chris Adukuchili Hassan, and the unshakable position of the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidates vis-a-vis the ongoing general elections.

But for the poor research carried out by the writer, he would have discovered that the issue of noncompliance with the order of Hon. Justice S.P. Gang has been finally thrashed out and rested, with the judgment of the Court of Appeal in the matter between AUGUSTINE TIMKUK vs. INEC & Ors, in Appeal No. CA/J/300/2023.

A related propaganda by the writer and his frustrated sponsors had trended for some weeks in the approach to the general elections, to the effect that INEC would derecognise PDP candidates and the Party would not feature on the ballot in the elections. But they are all disappointed that the Peoples Democratic Party is not only participating in the elections, but has swept all the National Assembly, Senatorial and Federal Constituency seats except one, to the bitter surprise and consternation of the enemies of Plateau State who are hellbent on stopping the emerging tsunamic change which will set the stage for the rescue of the State and its people from the evil grip of APC and its failed government.

For the records, before the PDP primaries which produced the current winning gladiators making waves in the ongoing elections, all perceived or actual legal impediments sponsored by our detractors, had been removed. The Court of Appeal held that PDP has complied with Justice Gang’s judgment by conducting the Congresses that led to the emergence of the present party structures in the State. PDP is not in disobedience of any Court order. INEC knows this fact, and this accounts for the PDP being on the ballot.
The propagators of this mischief also know this fact, but they find it convenient at this time to raise false alarm in order to distract the electorates and demoralise the Party’s supporters ahead of the 11th March, 2023 governorship and legislative houses elections. The people of Plateau State are wiser and know better and will not fall for any cheap propaganda.

We therefore call on the electorates to repeat the large turnout as witnessed in the presidential election and take their destinies in their own hands by voting for the Governorship and all the House of Assembly Candidates of the PDP come 11th March, 2023.

PDP, Power to the people!
