There is a developing story that Leader of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, has been arrested by the police in Kano as he attempted to fly out of the state to a yet-to-be-confirmed location.
One report said he was headed to Saudi Arabia for the lesser Hajj, while another said he was on his way to Abuja.
Reports say he was picked for an alleged role in the circumstances that led to the death of some persons and burning of the secretariat of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) last Saturday.
Recall that the campaign secretariat of the NNPP in Tudunwada was set ablaze on election day.
Doguwa was said to have led the thugs that set the secretariat ablaze. Two persons reportedly died in the fire.
Speaking with journalists, hours before the Police picked him up, he denied involvement in the violence that led to the deaths, but admitted that he heard the Police were looking for him.
On allegations that he fired gun shots at some persons during the fracas, Doguwa said, “I never held a gun. I don’t even know how to hold a gun. I also never held any weapon throughout the election.”
