Poster boy of Nigeria’s democracy and Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, has done the unthinkable. He has humbled the All Progressives Congress Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos, his backyard: Lagos State.
The same way, presidential candidate of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, defeated Tinubu in the home state of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Tinubu won more local governments than Obi, but with a margin of a little less than 10,000, Obi carried the day.
Going by the final declaration of result a while ago, Obi polled 582,454 votes, Tinubu 572,606 votes, while Atiku was third with 75,750 votes.
Tinubu won in 11 in Agege, Apapa, Badagry, Epe, Ibeju-Lekki, Ifako-Ijaiye, Ikorodu, Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland, Surulere and Mushin.
Obi won in Eti-Osa, Amuwo Odofin, Ikeja, Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Kosofe, Oshodi-Isolo, Alimosho, Ojo and Somolu local government areas.
