The state governments of Kogi, Kaduna, and Zamfara states have headed to the Supreme Court to stop the Federal Government from implementing the Naira redesign policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The developing story comes as the son of a man who stripped himself naked in a banking hall, together with his friends, were seen in a viral video harassing a staff of the bank; as anger continues to grow across the country over the scarcity of new notes.
All of the drama unfolds as videos surfaced on social media of banks allegedly hoarding new notes as customers suffer in their hands and those of Point of Sales (PoS) operators.
The three state governments, reports say, seek to stop the CBN from stopping the use of old N200, N500, and N1000 notes as legal tender by February 10.
House of Representatives Majority Leader, Ado Doguwa, argued in a television interview last week that the CBN Act does not support stopping the use of old notes, but states that they be used side by side until all old notes are brought in and phased out.
