Wike joins opposition to interim govt, cautions Rivers indigenes not to allow provocation

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has said those allegedlyworking to disrupt the February 25 and March 11 general elections are courting trouble amd should stop the venture.

He also opposed their move for an interim National Government (ING), a contraption introduced by former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, 30 years ago.

“Let nobody try to scuttle this election,” the governor said on Saturday during a campaign in the Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area of the state.”

Tinubu had last Friday drawn attention to plots by fifth columnists wanting to use the on-going fuel and currency scarcities to force through an ING.

Said Wike, 0“This policy (naira redesign) is targeted at making people angry so that they will demonstrate and riot and then the election be postponed. Then, they will introduce an interim government.

“No matter the provocation, don’t protest…. This election will hold. This election is by the PVCs. This election is not an election of cabals; it is an election of Nigerians….

“You said you want to remove the old currency but we have not seen the new ones. Can you buy fuel? Can you buy anything to eat again? Now, tell me, would you vote for anybody who loves Nigeria and is running for election, who supports this CBN policy?”

“Those supporting this kind of thing are enemies of Nigeria. I believe that they did not tell President Buhari the correct thing because me and the President are going the same time – May 29, the same time, nobody will stay one day more the other.

“So, I know the man (President Buhari) will like to finish well and go and I won’t see what is bad and not advise him. Those plotting all these things are those who don’t like him. But I believe he will hear the cries of Nigerians.”

Everyday.ng reports while dubbing the opposition to him as fifth columnists, Tinubu in Ekiti on Friday accused them of been behind the current nationwide fuel and new Naira notes scarcity and wanting to foist a political crisis on the country.

Until his spokesmen come out to deny and deflect his comments, the presidential candidate always appears to be pointing accusing fingers in the direction of his own party men, especially around the presidency.

Speaking at Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, venue of the presidential campaign rally on Friday, Asiwaju Tinubu said the people behind the crisis that is causing nationwide frustration and hardship to Nigerians want to spark turmoil that can lead to postponement of the general elections.

“They are hoarding Naira so that you can be angry and fight. They want confusion so that the election can be postponed. What they want is an interim government. But we are wiser than them. We will not fight. Any rat that eats the rat poison will end up killing itself.”
