Altars or monuments

Must read

“Saul went to Carmel to set up A MONUMENT IN HIS HONOR. Then he left there and went to Gilgal.” (1 Sam. 15:12, GWT)

One of the greatest challenges, and often also the greatest undoing, of many seeking to serve the Lord is who gains the glory – SELF or The LORD?

While Saul would dedicate his victory to himself, Samuel had dedicated his victory against the Philistines unto the Lord. “Then Samuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpeh and Shen, named it EBENEZER, saying, HITHERTO HATH THE LORD HELPED US. [1Sam. 7:12, NKJV]

The sons of Noah displeased the Lord by building their tower as monument to self rather than an altar of worship to the Lord. (Gen. 11:4, NKJV)

May our labours, successes and testimonies be ALTARS of worship to God rather than MONUMENTS of glory unto ourselves
