It was a tragic Thursday for a lady, who tried to make a quick dash over a rail line, but was unfortunately crushed to death along the Chikakore axis of Kubwa satellite town in the Bwari Area council of Abuja.
DSP Josephine Adeh, spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, said the victim was confirmed dead by a medical person at the scene.
She added that an investigation has commenced by the Railway division which has jurisdiction over the track.
“Findings and safety tips already existing will be reiterated to ensure a non-repeat of incident shortly.” she said
Recall that the Abuja-Kaduna rail line just reopened last week after a nine-month shut down, because of terrorists attact and abduction of over 60 passengers.
However, this is the first reported of a crash and crush on the Kubwa axis of the lucrative route.
Official identity of the young lady is still being awaited.
Billions of Naira were believed to have been spent by relatives of abducted passengers on the ill-fated train ride of March 28, 2022; and a publisher of an online publication, the Desert Herald, is still in detention over his alleged role in the ransom-for-release drama. About 10 lives were lost during the daring terrorist attack.
