The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has given the Nigerian Police two days to release one of its members, Aminu Adamu Muhammed, a final year student in the Federal University Dutse (FUD) or face the wrath of the association.

Emerging reports, however, say the student has been remanded in Suleja prison after appearing in court in Abuja.

The national student’s body has threatened to flood the streets nationwide with their members to protest the alleged action of the First Lady, and the Police. The student has been held more than the 24 hours required for charging him to court.

Mohammed was arrested over a Twitter post he made last June against Mrs Aisha Buhari, the wife of President  where he wrote in Hausa language “Su mama Anchi Kudin Talakawa an koshi”, “Mama and company have eaten poor people’s money and are filled up”.  He also attached the photo of a fat-looking Mrs. Buhari. The five months old tweet only went viral in the last two weeks, leading to his arrest .

It was gathered that some men in plain clothes suspected to be policemen picked him up and allegedly tortured him. An eye witness who leaked the arrest was equally reported to have been arrested and beaten up.

Aisha is being fingered to be responsible for the arrest after the father of Aminu, who received a call from his son, said he told him he was beaten and taken to the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Addressing journalists in Jigawa, the National Treasurer  and Nort-West chairman of NANS, Comrade Bashir Sulaiman Limanci, condemned the alleged arrest and detention of Muhammed, a final year student of Environmental Management and Toxicology. His final exams begin next Tuesday.

Said Limanci, “We demand the immediate and unconditional release of Muhammed a native of Azare in Bauchi state since no charge has been brought against him”.

“We call on the federal government, President Muhammadu Buhari, Frst Lady Aisha Buhari and the security agencies to shun the temptation to infringe on the right of the student.”
