Angered by the reported killing of five soldiers within his domain, Anambra State Governor, Prof Charles Soludo, has vowed to hit back at the criminal elements behind the attack.
“We condemn this wicked and cruel attack in the strongest terms. The perpetrators of this act must pay,” Soludo said.
His spokesperson, Christian Aburime, quoted him further, “We are not going to rest on our oars, including those people that attacked Senator Ifeanyi Ubah and the rest. There will be absolutely no hiding place for them…Going forward, our actions will show, as these people must surely pay for this heinous and repulsive attack.”
He pleaded with his people to be calm and law-abiding, noting that the security forces were up and doing.
Recall that the ubiquitous gunmen in the state killed at least five soldiers on routine patrol in Umunze, a community in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
According to reports, the soldiers were shot on Wednesday at about 12:30 p.m. beside a branch of the Zenith Bank close to the popular Nkwo Umunze market in the area.
The murderers opened fire on the soldiers who were in an army-marked Sienna patrol vehicle, killing five of them in the attack.
To boot, a video of the slain men was made and has been on the social media.
