Atiku meets Wike, appoints Dino Melaye, Daniel Bwala as spokespersons

Must read

Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party and former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has entered into a closed-door meeting with aggrieved Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, as part of desperate efforts to rein in the angry Governor.

Both men met in the Abuja residence of former Minister of Information, Prof. Jerry Gana.

There has been palpable tension in the PDP after Wike called Atiku a liar on account of an interview the party’s candidate gave a television station.

Threatening to make further disclosures, prominent members went into an overdrive of meetings to find a way dissuade the governor, who lost out to Atiku two months ago at the PDP presidential primary.

Wike was again shunned when Atiku opted for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate, though a preponderance of opinion among party stalwarts and governors tilted towards Wike.

Details of what transpired at the meeting between Atiku and Wike were still being awaited, but a good spin has been put to it by insiders, giving an impression that all went well.

Meanwhile, Atiku has appointed Senator Dino Melaye and Dr. Daniel Bwala as spokespersons to him for the upcoming presidential campaign.

According to a press release signed by Atiku’s Media Adviser, Paul Ibe the two appointments take immediate effect.

Malaye is a politician and a member of the 8th Senate, who represented Kogi West Senatorial district. He hails from Ayetoro Gbede in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State

Bwala, on the other hand, is a legal practitioner, politician and public affairs analyst. He hails from Borno State.
