The Clearing House for prayer

Must read

And whatever any of you ask in my name, I will do, in order that the Father may be glorified in the Son”. (John 14:31)

Prayer, like bank checks and instruments, have a clearing house where it is checked and confirmed. The Lord Jesus Christ is God’s Clearing House. For any prayer to be ‘cashed’, it must come in the Name of Jesus.

What does it mean to pray “in Jesus Name”? Is it merely appending or chanting the Name of Jesus at the end of every prayer? No! Praying in Jesus Name means coming to God because of Him, for His glory, and for what He, Jesus, endorses. Heaven will never answer a prayer that Jesus does not “counter-sign”.

Whose name do you invoke in your prayers? Your religious CV, or worse still, that of your spiritual “Daddy or Mummy”?

OUR STATUS & IDENTITY IN THE PLACE OF PRAYER

In effectual praying, certain things are key:

The one to WHO we direct our prayers. JEHOVAH, who hears and answers prayer, or worthless idols and dieties?

In WHOSE NAME we do pray; JESUS’ or another? Only prayers Jesus endorses stand a chance to be heard and answered by Heaven.

A third and equally critical element in prayer is our STATUS and IDENTITY before the Lord to who we pray. Do we stand as His CHILDREN or STRANGERS?

In prayer, we must come as sons and daughters to a loving and caring father. “For which of you having children…?” (Luke 11:11)
