Kaduna’s ‘Robin Hood’, Tanko Sabo, spends N6.9m on school fees of orphans, others

A Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) national delegate from Kaduna State, Tanko Rossi Sabo, who donated over N12 million he got from the party’s presidential primary to the less-privileged in the Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna, is not afraid if the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) comes after him.

“I satisfied my conscience and all my people are happy”.

The national delegate to last weekend’s national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Kaduna State, allegedly returned home to share his ‘loot’ with his community in Sanga LGA as a way of thanking them for electing to represent them at the convention.

He disclosed that he gave N6.9 million as “WAEC and NECO examination fees for 150 orphans and the underprivileged” and added that he gave N100,000 as logistics to the five-man committee set up to go round the schools and pay the examination fees because “implementation is important”.

Recall that it was revealed that delegates to the PDP event laughed back home with largesse running into millions of Naira, given in hard currency by the big presidential aspirants.

Sabo, in his reaction, declined to give the name or names of politicians who dished out cash for votes.

According to a former Special Adviser (Media) to late Governor Yakowa of Kaduna State, Reuben Buhari, Sabo spent N7 million alone on the less privileged in his community.

” He bought jerseys, paid school fees and hospital fees. He distributed the rest to other support groups,” said Buhari.

“Whatever is the argument on whether he was right in collecting the money or not, my consolation is that hundreds of the less privileged in his community are smiling today. For that, I say weldone Tanko,” he added.
