Obiano, wife moved to Abuja; Soludo apologises for show of shame, appoints SSG, others

Embattled former governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano and his wife, Ebelechukwu have been moved to Abuja from the detention facility of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Lagos. They were  arrested on their way out of the the country on Thursday night by federal agents at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport.

According to reports, they were moved to Abujs on Friday morning.

Meanwhile, less than six hours after his inauguration as the sixth Governor of Anambra, Prof. Charles Soludo has announced the appointment of three persons into his administration.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the statement containing the new appointments was released to newsmen by Mr Joe Anatune, on Thursday in Awka.

The statement announced the appointment of Prof. Osita Chukwulobelu as Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Dr Chukwudi Okoli as the Accountant General, while Mr Chinedu Nwoye was appointed as Deputy Chief Of Staff/State Chief of Protocol.

Also, the governor has apologised for the fight between the former First Lady of the State, Ebelechukwu, and wife of late Biafra Leader, Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu, Bianca, at his inauguration.

Describing the fight as a personal issue, Soludo, who himself was startled by the slap on Ebelechukwu, as he signed the instrument of office, in a statement by his spokesman, Joe C. Anatune, stated that the breach of protocol was caused by improper communication which arose from a personal issue “between the two parties involved in the breach”.

Not mentioning the warring women by name, he said, “Steps are being taken to resolve the misunderstanding and restore the parties to their previous relationship.

“Anambra State has over the years been known for a huge stock of social harmony, and the stock will increase substantially in the years ahead as part of the concerted effort to accelerate the state’s development.”
