The Zamfara deputy governor and son of a former National Security Adviser, Mahdi Aliyu Gusau, has been impeached, reports from Gusau, the state capital, say.
Mahdi’s days appeared numbered when he refused to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) with his boss, Governor Matawalle.
Reports from the state capital say the state house of assembly impeached him on Wednesday.
There has been no word from the deputy governor’s office or camp since his removal became a fait accompli.
Recall that Mahdi had questioned the impeachment process, citing a subsisting suit he filed in court challenging the plans by the state assembly.
