Despite reports of bombs dropping on some parts of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, President Muhammadu Buhari made good his visit to commission projects there.
The bombings allegedly by the Islamic State for West African Province (ISWAP) are believed to have been orchestrated by the terrorist group, hours before to dissuade the president’s visit and score a propaganda point, but reports from Maiduguri say the visit is on.
Among others, President Buhari is to commission an edifice donated by a billionaire, Mohammed Indimi, to the University of Maiduguri.
Other projects to be inaugurated a 10km dual carriageway, a flyover, and a mega secondary school executed by the Borno State Government.
According to reports, four persons were killed as a result of the three explosions that rocked the ancient city.
Another eight persons are believed to be injured.
The explosions from the mortar bonds were said to have occurred in three different locations – Bulumkutu, Ajilari Cross and Ayaje.
