“Authority is the power or right to give orders, make decisions, and enforce obedience”. It can be political or administrative. Ultimately, all authority is derived from a sovereign. It is therefore spiritual.
“…All power belongs to God … All authority comes from God..” (1Pet. 5:11; Rom. 13:1b)
GOD is the ultimate owner and dispenser of authority. And by His sovereignty and redemptive plan, He chose to bestow ALL His authority on Christ Jesus.
“…God elevated him… and gave him the name above all names… Jesus told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth (Phil. 5:2; Matt. 28:18)
JESUS in turn delegated His authority to His Church, His representative and ambassadors on earth.
“… And hath made us kings and priests unto God … I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven…” (Rev. 1:6; Matt. 16:9)
As believers, we are people WITH authority even where we are NOT IN authority.
