A snake-bite tragedy that took the life of an air force personnel, Lance Corporal Bercy Ogah, has sparked fear and precautionary measures among many Nigerians seeking ways of protecting them and members of their households.
Many on social media spoke on how they emptied salt jars and all manner of chemicals into toilet bowls and around their homes to neutralise serpents or other reptiles. The discussion continues to rage on other methods.
Bercy was bitten by a snake as she used her toilet in her official residence on Saturday at the Air Force base along Bill Clinton Way, (on Airport Road).
She had sat on the toilet seat in her room not knowing that the dangerous reptile was lurking in there.
She was rushed to the medical centre, but she didn’t survive and was pronounced dead at the medical centre.
Many suspect the snake crawled into the toilet bowl through the soak-away and septic tanks
A man believed to be a snake charmer was seen in one of the trending videos pulling out the dangerous reptile after Bercy had been taken to the hospital.
An official word was still being awaited from the Air Force since the tragic event.
