The world recently gathered in Glasgow, Scotland @ COP26 seeking to “save the earth” by taming climate change. The Earth indeed has suffered and aged through human abuse.
For we know that up to the present time all of creation groans with pain, like the pain of childbirth” (Romans 8:22).
However, the greatest threat to the survival of humanity and the world is not just physical climate change but the rapid change in the spiritual climate of the world; unrighteousness and ungodliness dominates our private and public space, enticing God’s judgement.
“… The present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly” (2Peter 3:7)
The Church of God, like the UN, must arise with a sense of urgency to tame the slide in the world’s spiritual climate by preaching the gospel. For all of creation awaits redemption by our manifestation (Romans 8:19)
