A widow and her three children were among those slaughtered in a Kaduna village, while at least 12 persons have been reportedly abducted alongside the Emir of Kajuru at his residence, just 30 minutes out of the state capital of Kaduna State.

The abduction comes amidst reports of attacks that claimed lives in Kiboki and Warkan villages within the same Southern Kaduna in the last three days

Said a source: “a widow and her three children were killed in Kiboki, while in Warkan village some persons were killed, with some burned beyond recognition. At least 10 houses were razed down.

“One person was slaughtered in Zango Urban where he went to buy fuel at the filling station. One person was killed at Makarua on the farm, while another was attacked and left to die along Zamawon road and his motorbike taken away.”

Armed bandits kidnapped the 85 years old emir and 12 of his family members in a late night raid.

Those listed are three women, two of his grand children, three of his aides and five others, though other reports said it was his children that were abducted with him.

News of the deaths and abductions came as news filtered in on the passing of former deputy governor of the troubled state, Architect Barnabas Yusuf Bala (Bantex).

President Muhammadu Buhari joined the government and people of Kaduna State to mourn the passing of Bantex, a former Deputy Governor of the State during the first tenure of Governor Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai.

President Buhari believes that Architect Bantex, a true gentleman and consummate professional, will be fondly remembered for his many years of distinguished service in his home State, his patriotism to the nation as well as forthrightness in politics.

The President also affirms that the former Deputy Governor, who served as chairman of Kaura Local Government Council and member representing Kaura Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, was a potent voice on peace, stability and progress at the state and national levels.

The President extended his deepest condolences to the family of Bala, his friends, associates and many followers, who benefited immensely from his responsible stewardship as a public servant and political office holder.

President Buhari prays God almighty to grant the departed eternal rest and comfort those who mourn the irreparable loss, a statement from his office said.
