With hours to carrying out a surgery, Air Peace staff messes up a surgeon; airline forces him to pay back

Charles Adisa, a professor of Surgery and Surgical Oncologist with the Abia State University got less than he bargained and paid for as he booked a flight to Owerri, the Imo capital, enroute his base, Abia State, for a surgery.

An Air Peace staff allegedly shortchanged him, but the airline gave the staff a bloody nose for it.

Adisa’s story backed by evidence of bank alerts: “I had another experience Thursday last week while returning from Abuja to Aba via the Owerri Airport.

“I arrived about 45 minutes before my flight and the first boarding announcement was yet to be made. I was told at the check in counter that I was late. I pleaded with the Supervisor, a very nasty fellow who refused to help. I reminded them I was a frequent flyer and I had Surgeries to perform the next day, this guy didn’t budge.

“I eventually had to buy another ticket for 24,200 for the next day. The original ticket was 27k.

“Later, I was told I could board the same flight they had claimed I couldn’t. By the time I boarded the plane, my seat row was empty and the occupants came in after about 10 minutes.

“When we arrived Owerri, I lodged a complaint with the station manager, a very nice chap who was quite upset that I could be treated that way. He called the Abuja office and G.E (names abbreviated by Editor), the nasty fellow was still adamant that he did the right thing and that the money was not going to be refunded as it had entered Air Peace account. I insisted that the money must be refunded. The Owerri station Manager called a more senior officer in Abuja who insisted that (G.E) must refund my money from his own account. I got the credit alert few minutes after.

“If he had been kind, he wouldn’t have needed to refund his own personal money. It doesn’t pay at all to be mean to others”.
