We had just moved into this bustling city and were getting (mal) adjusted to the organised chaos. As we waded through the traffic one day, our car got bashed from behind. We naturally stopped to inspect the damage. Rather than sympathy from the other road users, we got all kinds of booes, jeers and insults. Back home feeling so abused and violated, a caring neighbor gave us this counsel, “In this city, you never take such things personal, it’s not about you, it’s a culture”. That perspective calmed us.
The battle against God’s saints and His Church is not about us. It is Jesus the enemy hates and fights. And our Lord is well able to defend His own. When He met Saul, the question was never about his persecuting the Church He asked, “…Saul, Saul, why are you so cruel to me? It’s foolish to fight against me!”
-Acts 26:14 CEV
The battle against us and the Church is the LORD’S, and *He fights FROM victory, not FOR victory!
