Oshiomhole in car crash, loses two aides; Obaseki commiserates with him

Two policemen on former Edo Governor and National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole’s convoy died following a ghastly car crash involving as his team drove to catch up with APC’s Candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, at a campaign rally.

Swiftly same Tuesday, his successor as Governor and Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, sheath the sword of political rivalry that has keep the state on edge, and commiserated with him.

An articulated vehicle was said to have veered off control and ran into Oshiomhole’s convoy near Oluku junction in the Ovia North-East Local Government Area of the Edo State.

As soon as word reached Ize-Iyamu, he called off the rally at Usen to join his benefactor.

Two other persons were said to have sustained injuries, though details were sketchy.

Oshiomhole’s spokesman, Victor Oshoke, said in a statement: “Some minutes after 12 pm today Tuesday, September 1, 2020, there was a motor accident involving the convoy of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, along Benin-Lagos by-pass before Oluku junction.

“We are sad to report that two police personnel in the Toyota Hilux truck lost their lives while two others are in critical condition receiving treatment at a hospital in the state. Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and other persons in the convoy, apart from those indicated above, did not sustain any injuries.”

Meanwhile, Governor Obaseki commiserated with the families of the victims of the crash and prayed that God grants them the fortitude to bear the loss of their loved ones.

His words in a statement, “I received the news of the accident with shock and commiserate with the former governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and the candidate of the APC in the forthcoming governorship election, Osagie Ize-Iyamu over the very unfortunate incident involving their security aides and top chieftains of the party in the campaign team….

“While we pray for strength for the families of the deceased persons, we also pray for the quick recovery of those who were injured and are receiving treatment.”
