The Plateau State Government on Thursday tasked Residents of the state to observe the monthly environmental sanitation on Saturday, Aug. 29 having resuscitated the program.
Governor Simon Lalong order was contained in a statement by Mr Dan Manjang, the state information and communication commissioner.
“Our Governor has directed the immediate resuscitation of the monthly environmental sanitation. By this directive, the exercise is to resume with effect from this Saturday, Aug. 27, 2020.
“Consequently, all citizens are hereby enjoined to come out and clean their surroundings,” he stated.
The Governor said that residents must ensure that their interiors and surroundings are cleared especially of grasses and drainages around their homes and business premises.
Lalong explained that the government took the action in the best interest of the health and safety of its citizens.
According to him, it was also in realisation of the unacceptable sanitary conditions of some areas in the State which pose serious danger to the wellbeing of residents.
“In the light of this, movement will be restricted between the hours of 7.00 and 10.00 a.m. All entry and exit points into and out of the state will be shut except for those on essential services.
“Parents and guardians are hereby advised to keep their wards in check and to come out en masse to clean their surroundings,” he ordered.
The Governor said that Security agents and Mobile courts have been duly mobilised to arrest and persecute defaulters.
He stated that henceforth the exercise will be a routine every last Saturday of the month.
