The poverty that hurts above all

Must read

By Buti Sam Kputu
All man’s strivings are driven largely by twin fears – poverty and death. And whereas death is inevitable, we all desire to conquer poverty, either through hard work or by seeking divine favours.
Poverty is defined as ‘the state of extreme lack, insufficient in amount or being inferior in quality, especially of thought and imagination’. For believers in Christ Jesus, our poverty is usually more of the latter than the former.
We have it on the authority of God’s word that THE LORD IS OUR SHEPHERD therefore we shall not lack. And that HIS DIVINE POWER HAS GRANTED US ALL we need to live and honor Him (Psalm 23; 2 Peter 1:3). Where then comes our poverty?
Our Lord Jesus never rebuked His disciples for lack of money or material; it was always for “…O YOU OF LITTLE FAITH” (Matt. 6:30; 14:31) The poverty of the believer is usually a poverty of KNOWLEDGE of God’s Word and FAITH in them. That is the poverty that hurts. Prayer: Lord I believe, help my unbelief.
