The Kebbi State Government has taken responsibility for the care and education of a 10 years old boy found chained with animals by his father and two stepmothers for two years.
His father, Malam Aliyu Badariya and his wives are already in police custody, with the government vowing they will face the full wrath of the law.
The abandoned boy was rescued by a human rights group, according to a spokesman of the Kebbi State Governor, Alhaji Bandado Argungu.
He said in a statement that the boy was chained in the stall of goats like an animal for over two years.
“The boy named, Jamilu Aliyu, unfortunately lost his biological mother two years ago, falling under the custody of his biological father and two step mothers.
“He was practically denied food, hence, resorted to feeding upon the food given to the animals he was staying with in the same stall. Sometimes he used to eat his own ‘faeces’ for his survival.”
Worse, he added, the boy emaciated, got dehydrated and became partially deformed, adding “he limps like an ape and behaves like an animal. He is too pitiable to behold.”
Already, a state government delegation has visited Jamilu at the Sir Yahaya Specialist Hospital Birnin Kebbi where he is said to beresponding to treatment, with the government picking the hospital bills.
