Again, Dogara changes political party; returns to APC

Must read

Immediate past Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has re-engaged his political gear returning to the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the second time in his political career.
Dogara came to the House in 2007 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but left to join the APC in 2014 in a mass exodus that contributed to the loss of the PDP in the presidential polls, as well as in gubernatorial polls in many states, including his home state of Bauchi.
In 2019, Dogara and Senate President, Dr. Saraki, left the APC again for PDP, returning officially on Friday.
He was spotted with the Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State who visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Villa on Friday. Buni, who is also the Chairman of the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Committee, confirmed the move of Dogara. The former Speaker declined to speak with journalists.
On those who expressed surprise at seeing him with Dogara, the Governor said, “They shouldn’t be surprised because the former Speaker is a member of the APC and it is because the reason why he left the APC is no more there.”
On the President’s reaction, the Caretaker Committee Chairman disclosed, “He welcomed him. He is happy with the development. That is what he’s looking for.
It was gathered that Dogara, who has been in the House of Representatives since 2007 for the Bogoro/Dass/Tafawa Balewa Federal constituency of Bauchi State, may have parted political ways with State Governor, Bala Mohammed, who he joined forces with from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to oust the former Governor, Mohammed Abubakar of the APC.
Details of their political disagreement is not yet known, and his spokesman, Turaki Hassan, did not pick up or return calls to his line at publication time.
