Eyitayo Jegede has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s flag bearer for the Ondo State governorship election which is expected to take place on October 10.
Jegede will, again, face incumbent Governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, as he did in 2016; but this time, the dynamics have changed for the two Senior Advocates of Nigeria.
Recall that three days earlier Akeredolu emerged winner on the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket, polling 2458 votes of the available 3127. His closest rival, Olusola Oke, scored 262 votes.
Earlier, four aspirants; Ife Oyedele, Jimi Odimayo, Nathaniel Adojutelegan and Olusegun Abraham withdrew from the race for Akeredolu
Jegede was on Thursday announced as the winner of the ticket for PDP, polling 888 votes to defeat his closest rival and incumbent Deputy Governor of the state, Agboola Ajayi with 657 votes.
Eddy Olafeso polled 175 votes, Banji Okunomo 90, Olabode Ayorinde 95, and Boluwaji Kunlere 33, Olusola Ebiseeni 28, and Godday 14 votes. There were 64 votes.
