APC drama: Why we are at the headquarters, by Police

Must read

The Nigerian Police says it did not go to the headquarters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to seal it up but to maintain law and order.
The ruling party has been embroiled in a miasma of internal rumblings at its headquarters and the home state of suspended National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Edo, where Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has picked the party’s ticket for next September’s gubernatorial polls.
At the headquarters, Chief Victor Giadom is laying claims to the chairman’s seat in acting capacity though a large number of his fellow National Working Committee (NWC) are rooting for indisposed Deputy National Chairman, Abiola Ajimobi. But South-South National Vice Chairman, Hilliard Eta, is holding the fort.
Giadom has written INEC to say Ize-Iyamu ticket for Edo is invalid since he did not approve of the primaries that took place there on Monday.
Force Public Relations Officer of the Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Frank Mba, explained the Police action at the party headquarters.
His words in a statement: “Personnel of the Nigeria Police Force have been deployed to the National Secretariat of the All Progressive Congress, located at Blantyre Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja. The deployment is a proactive move by the Force to maintain peace and ensure there is no breakdown of law and order at the Secretariat.
“The presence of police personnel at the Secretariat is not to seal-up the Complex as has been reported in some quarters but rather to prevent any untoward situation within and around the APC National Secretariat.
“Members of the APC as well as staff of the Secretariat are therefore at liberty to conduct their legitimate businesses, in and around the Secretariat as always.”
