Just recovering from a weekend verbal bout with Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, now has trouble at his doorstep, as a little-known group styling itself as APC Young Stakeholders is asking him to leave his exalted seat.
The group, carrying placards with inscriptions asking the party chief to vacate his seat and go home, were at the APC Secretariat at about noon on Monday.
One of protesters, Mathias Omikpa, who claims to be a leader, said, “It is time for Oshiomhole to go, we are tired of this downward trend. The National Chairman has brought nothing but misfortunes to our party from Zamfara to Rivers now Bayelsa. We are calling on President Muhammadu Buhari and National Leader of APC, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, to intervene.”
It is not exactly known which of the forces pushing for the party leader’s removal is behind the group, but protest for his removal has become a recurring decimal for a while since the last round of national and state elections.
Apart from some sitting state governors, other aggrieved party leaders have been asking for Oshiomhole’s removal. There are also former Governors who lost out in attempts to instal candidates of their choice in the last election, but were allegedly frustrated by the chairman.
