N3 billion Kasuwan Magani market in Kaduna: Adara inch toward agreement

Must read

From Treasure IbukunOluwa, Kaduna
There appears to be reconciliation in the air among two major contending Adara groups; one close to the state government, and the more populist one which has the Adara Development Association (ADA) on its side, over the reconstruction of the N3 billion Kasuwan Magani market.
ADA had recently stressed its opposition to the market.
Incessant crisis in the area along ethno-religious lines, and the sitting of the market near the predominantly Hausa area of the town has split the once cohesive people group.
It appears both groups are agreeing to have the market, even though it was gathered that there are still loud grumbles within.
A Communiqué issued at the end of Kajuru LGA Adara Stakeholders meeting held at Government Day Secondary School, Maraban Kajuru on Wednesday 18th December 2019, and sent to Everyday.ng resolved, among others in the resolutions, that “participants in totality supported the efforts of KDSG in rebuilding Kasuwan Magani ultra modern market and called for faster reconstruction efforts so as to meet up with the stipulated completion period of the project.”
Other resolutions were:
▪That the security issues be discussed discretely at a later date.
▪ it resolved that ADA and LG IDPs committees should be fused together to work in harmony.
The meeting chaired by the Chairman Kajuru LG Hon. Cafra Caino had in attendance were some Former Kajuru LGA chairmen, Council members, Former Commissioners from Kajuru LG, District Head of kufana with all his village heads, ADA National President, ADA Kaduna leader, ADA Kajuru branch leader, chairman youth Council, Chairman Kasuwan Magani market Committee, members , Kajuru Legislative members, Chairman Kajuru IDPs committee, Former ADA National leaders, APC, PDP, APGA, SDP party chairmen at LG Level or their Reps, Former KDHA members and other relevant key stakeholders. Many other leaders were said to have kept away from the meeting so as not to be roped into what a source described as government agenda to further divide the large people group.
It was not clear on Saturday if any of the leaders incarcerated recently, allegedly on the orders of the state government, showed up.
Hon. Cafra Caino, who spoke on the relative peace enjoyed by the residents, cautioned them to be wary of people with questionable character, adding that this measure was the only way that could avert any impending attack in the area.
He emphasised the need for security consciousness among the residents, noting that security is a collective responsibility, and urging residents to assist the security agencies by “keeping night vigil.”
He further, informed participants that three key issues; Security, IDPs and Kasuwan Magani Ultra modern market rebuilding efforts were key on the agenda.
Similarly, The chairman Kajuru Truth Peace and Reconciliation Committee of the Local Government Area, Rt. Hon Patrick Stephen Maigari , described the meeting as timely, he also reemphasised the need for the ethnic groups in the area to accommodate each other as one and coexist peacefully with one another irrespective of political affiliation for the progress of the area.
Speaking in the same vein, the District head of Kufana, Mr Titus Dauda, appreciated the state government and the chairman of the local government council for their steadfastness in restoring total peace in the area.
