Fire razes Nwankwu’s Abagana country home…Rep Commiserates with family

A late evening fire has razed down the palatial countryhome of the popular businessman, Sir Joe Nwankwu at Orofia village Abagana, headquarter of Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra state.
According to a statement from the Anambra state Police command and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer Haruna Mohammed, a distress call about the fire outbreak was reported at about 6pm.
The member representing Njikoka/Dunukofia/Anaocha Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Chief Dozie Nwankwo has commiserated with the family for the unfortunate incident.
While expressing concern for the safety of the people especially at this dry season when fire outbreak occurs more, the lawmaker urged citizens to put away hazardous and inflammable materials away from sources of naked fires. He also cautioned about disconnecting electricity wires when not in use, when leaving home or at night so as to further protect lives and property.
In its press statement, the Anambra Police command noted that “On 18/12/2019 at about 6:pm, there was a fire outbreak at the residence of late Chief Sir Joe Nwankwu of Orofia village Abagana in Njikoka LGA of Anambra State.
“Following the distress call,Police patrol team led by DPO Abagana CSP Prince Ugochukwu Ezejiofor rushed to the scene and alerted the fire service who responded promptly and put off the fire.
“Meanwhile, the Area was cordoned off by the Police to prevent hoodlums from taking advantage of the situation to loot.Cause of fire is yet unknown and properties worth millions of naira were destroyed.
“Consequently, no loss of life and no casualty recorded. Case under investigation to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident please.”
