Presidency  backs Oshiomhole’s comments that Buhari can work from anywhere

Must read

Just like the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, declared on Tuesday, the Presidency has reiterated that President Muhammadu Buhari can run the affairs of state from anywhere in the world.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Babajide Omoworare,  said on Wednesday while addressing journalists in the National Assembly: “The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria can work from anywhere he is  in the world.”
The President came under attack after the Presidency disclosed that his Chief of Staff, Mr. Abba Kyari, travelled all the way to London to get the signature of Buhari, who is on a two-week private visit there.
On Tuesday, during a visit to Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, Oshiomhole said, “I think by signing into law at the Nigerian House in London, it shows that wherever the president is, he is presiding over Nigeria and with the benefit of modern technology we have passed the Mungo Park era.”
“So signing it in London for me has also made several statements – namely, that wherever national interest is involved, the president is on duty and wherever he is he is presiding.
“I also salute his assenting to the bill as fast as he did and even at the Nigerian House in London.”
Omoworare added on Wednesday, “Contrary to the claims by some individuals and groups,  The President has not in any way undermine or relegate the office of the Vice President. He has no reason to do so.
“I don’t think there is any way or manner that the office of the Vice President has been relegated….
“The only celebrated case was that of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua,  who was Ill and could not transmit any letter to the National Assembly.
“The National Assembly had to work round the situation by ensuring that the executive powers go to the vice president.”
