Kidnappers up ante in dare-devilry; Kidnapped Suleja Area Commander rescued

Must read

It is no wonder that roads are getting deserted along the Abuja-Kaduna axis as well as other major roads. Kidnappers now go after any and everyone, as happened to an Assistant Commissioner of Police, Musa Rambo, an Area Commander in Suleja Niger State, abducted between Kaduna and Nasarawa States, but rescued on Sunday.

In the train rides between Abuja and Kaduna, riders talk of overfilled rides that include the top brass of the armed forces who are driven and taken away from stations in heavily armed convoys.

Others lament that whole coaches, especially in the first-class compartments, are now chartered and taken over by top government officials and those of security forces, who now fear travelling the roads, even with their heavily-armed convoys.

The good news is that ACP Rambo has been successfully rescued on Sunday by a combined team of Police operatives from Kaduna, Niger and Zone 7 Command Headquarters Abuja, backed-up by members of the elite Special Forces of the NPF.

The Police Force Spokesperson, DCP Frank MBA confirmed Sunday night the rescue.

Two male suspects were arrested in connection with the incident.

Recall that in Kaduna, the State Police Command, confirmed the abduction of Rambo, the Police chief of Suleja.

Kaduna Police spokesman of the command, DSP Yakubu Sabo, said the ACP was abducted on Saturday at about 3.30pm.

Sabo said on Sunday in Kaduna that the police officer’s car with registration number KRD 753 BT and his ID card were found abandoned along the road by a team of Operation Safe Heaven.

Sabo added that the vehicle was abandoned near Kanock Bridge, a border area between Kaduna and Nasarawa States.

He also said that contact had been established with the kidnappers who requested for ransom, but did not state how much is being demanded by the abductors.

Sabo however said efforts are in top gear to rescue the ACP and arrest the culprits.

“The State Commissioner of Police, Ali Janga assures the public of the command’s resolve to secure the release of the victim.

“He enjoin the people of the state to continue to support the Police with relevant information that could help the command to overcome the recent security problems.”
