Must read

Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Dr. Bamanga Tukur, has written to congratulate his former contemporary and friend, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, on his 90th birthday, which he described as “a glorious occasion indeed!”

Tukur was Governor of former Gongola State (now Adamawa and Taraba States) when Jakande was Governor of Lagos State between October and December 1983.

Said Tukur, in his letter to Jakande: “Attaining ninety is not an easy feat. It is a mark of God’s grace for the choosen one. Certainly, the Almighty has richly favoured you. I am personally excited because of what you have come to represent over the years. The moral compass of the commercial centre of the Nation.

“As a journalist and politician you have always shown moderation, tolerance and wisdom to earn the respect and recognition of the people. You are a man of great personal discipline, open minded and focus that has strong zeal for performance.

“I cannot forget your great dreams for our dear country during the years we had worked together; when you were journalist in the Nigerian Tribune and I was a civil servant in the Nigerian Ports Authority and during our days as ministers.

“Happy 90th Birthday to you my friend, and to a great Nigerian. My wish for you is sound health, God blessing and continued service to mankind”.
