Aisha Wakil, popularly known as Mama Boko Haram, has facilitated the release of a female National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, corps member (name withheld) and four others who were held hostage by the Boko Haram insurgents.
A statement on Sunday by the media aide of Mama Boko Haram and the Country Director of her Non-Governmental Organisation, NGO, Complete Care Foundation. Prince Lawal Shoyode, said the four other captive ages between 22, 14, 15 and 21 years.
According to him, Hajiya Wakil swung into action on appeal from the sister of the youth corps members (Hadiza Umaru), leading to the release of the victim and four other female Boko Haram captives.
Mr Shoyode said they were released without the payment of any ransom.
He said: “It was the sister of the corper, her names withheld that called Mama (Hajiya Wakil) and Mama said she should send her picture. she then sent her picture to Boko Haram pleading for her release.
“The Boko Haram then released her with four others about six hours after they received appeal from Mama.”
Mr Shoyode who was unhappy with the treatment meted out on the released females, said: “They were sexually abused, they passed them round to each other for sexual satisfaction.
“The women were given anal sex…. They didn’t bath for many days, it was the wife of commander that were given the privilege of bathing daily, and it was only when one of the commanders want to use them (have sex with them), he will ask them to bath with little water at interval of six hours.”
He said Mama Boko Haram had however appealed to them to release other females in captivity, especially Leah Sharibu. She also asked them to drop their arms and surrender to the Nigerian Army.
