The news of the arrest of former Governor Rochas Okorocha, his wife, Nkechi, is fake news, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC has said in Abuja.
Spokesman of the anti-graft agency, Mr. Tony Orilade, told Nigeria Everyday on phone: “It is fake news”.
A trending report on some media platforms reads that the EFCC arrested the erstwhile governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, his wife, Nkechi Okorocha.
It added that the anti-corruption commission arrested Okorocha, barely 24 hours after leaving office was arrested along side Gerald Okorocha and Okey Okorocha.
It reads further: “The commission also sealed his Eastern Palm University, Ogboko.
“Prior to Rochas Okorocha’s exit as Imo state Governor, he had boasted that those who had wished to be in prison, would be there before him.
“Also, the EFCC Chairman had hinted that Rochas was being investigated”.
