NJC extends acting appointment of Justice Tanko Muhammad by three months.

Must read

Contrary to reports that that the National Judicial Council (NJC) would meet next week to deliberate on the extension of the tenure of the Acting Appointment of Justice Tanko Muhammad as the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria by three months, he has actually been granted the extension.
The Director of Information of NJC, Mr. Soji Oye, said the Council met on Thursday 18th April, 2019 and at the 88th Meeting considered and approved the request of President Muhammadu Buhari for the extension of the appointment another three months.
He added, in a statement, that NJC has since forwarded its approval to the President.
Recall that the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) last week in a judgment on false declaration of assets, ordered that suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, be removed, banned him from holding public office for 10 years, and asking him to forfeit monies denominated in Naira and other currencies.
He has since filed a notice of appeal.
