Kidnapped Lagos fire service director, six others freed, two arrested

Following the release of the acting Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Rasaki Musibau, and six other people by their abductors, the Police have arrested two members of the gang that allegedly kidnapped them.
The Fire Service officer and the six others were abducted on Saturday at about 8pm, but Police teams led by the Officer in Charge of Anti Kidnapping Unit, SP Bulus R Musa, arrested the alleged abductors on Tuesday night.
The victims were abducted in the Ejirin area of Ikosi-Ejirin Local Council Development Area of the state on Saturday.
In a statement issued by the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, the director and the others were released unhurt at about 11.45pm on Tuesday night.
He said, ” On 09/04/2019 at about 11.45pm, the Director of Lagos State Fire Service, Rasaki Musibau and 6 others kidnapped on 06/04/19 at about 8.00pm, at Ketu-Ereyun, Ikorodu, were released unhurt by their abductors. The victims have since reunited with their families.
“The Command’s Tactical teams are still in the creeks and forests combating the hoodlums.”
In another statement released by Elkana, the arrested suspects namely: Blessing Bayo ‘m’ 29 years and Smart Alfred ‘m’ 32 years all of Arogbo, Ondo State were arrested on Wednesday at about 05:30am at Ibafun along Ikorodu-Ijebu Ode Express Way, a boundary community with Ogun State.
According to the Police, the two suspects confessed to the crime, while two single barrel guns were recovered from them.
Efforts are on to arrest other fleeing members of the gang, the Police added.
