Why Bauchi still remains educationally backward

Must read

The Medis aide the House of Representatives Speaker, Turaki Hassan, has said that the State government’s rejection of offer of help from federal lawmakers may be one of the reasons why his principal’s State still re mained backward educationally.

In a caption to a video on social media showing an overcrowded classroom, Turaki wrote: “This is Tudun Salmanu Primary School along Maiduguri road #Bauchi, no wonder Bauchi state has the highest number of out-of-school children in #Nigeria (1.3 million), yet the state government chased away contractors from renovating some of these schools, refused to collect thousands of text and exercise books, chairs, tables and other instructional materials procured through the interventions of Federal Lawmakers.”
There has been a running political battle between Speaker Yakubu Dogara and Bauchi Governor, Mohammed Abdulahi Abubakar. This, among others, forced Dogara out of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) back into the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Both men have often locked horns over the manner the State is run.
