“At the heart of humanity is a song of the soul…Music continues to inspire spiritual expression as sound reflects and affects faith and values.” (Unknown)
The songs we sing are often a personal reflection of how and what we feel about things or people – even God! Thus our songs are either a prayer, a praise or a lamentation.
Good songs then must be real and personal to us; they should be correct expressions of the echoes of our hearts, not mere rehearsals of tunes, tones and choruses of others.
As we daily walk with the Lord, and dwell in His word, fresh encounters and revelations of Him should naturally result in new songs that reflect our new experiences of Him.
One sign of spiritual stagnation and decadence is when our hearts are dried of new songs of praise, or just filled with old tunes and sighs of lamentations.
