A multitalented Enugu-based fraudster who passes himself off as a top staff of one of the oil Companies in Port-Harcourt; or at other times, a senior Federal Road Safety Corps official has been arrested by the Special X-Squad from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) office attached to the Anambra State Command.
The young fraudsters who goes by assorted names and maintains multiple Facebook accounts as Eugene Chimeze Ohamadike; Henry Eze, and Ifeanyi Obiora, was identified by the police authorities as the brain behind series of dastardly acts on the social media precisely Facebook.
Police investigation, according to the Anambra State Police Public Relations officer (PPRO), Haruna Mohammed, so far revealed that he targets female facebook accounts holders seeking amorous comfort from male friends and job seekers.
Already, many have fallen victim of his trap under the illusion that they have met an opulent suitor. QOthers fall prey because they got his contact through religious leaders believing that he was genuine.
The suspect, over time having made ‘friends’ and acquaintances with oblivious potential female victims on Facebook proposes love and marriage to them and thereafter convinces them that due to his tight work schedule at the office, they should assist him open bank accounts using their own profiles.
He would thereafter collect the ATM Cards and the consequent Personal Identification Numbers(PIN) and had been using same accounts to lure desperate job seekers in the country to deposit their hard earned money for him.
Though he was based in Enugu, this smart fraudster who normally lures most of his victims to Awka, was triangulated and traced to his hideout in Enugu State where he was subsequently arrested with the aid of modern technology.
One of his readily available victims based in Awka has already identified him and narrated her ordeal in his hands. It’s expected that with his mask now off and pattern made public, more of his victims nationwide would show up soon.
Police also disclosed that he has voluntarily confessed to the crime. The items recovered from him include a laptop, nine ATM cards of different banks with different names.
Also recovered from him were four Foreign GSM phone SIM cards, three Nigerian GSM phone SIM cards, Sixty Seven (67) pages of Computer Printouts for suspected victims and targets and One International Passport.
The Anambra police spokesman Mohammed, assured that the suspect would be charged to court as soon as the investigations are concluded.
