Mr Yusuf Gagdi-Babayo, former Plateau Deputy Speaker, on Friday, picked the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to contest the Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam (PKK) Faederal Constituency seat in the 2019 general elections.
Gagdi-Babayo scored 741 out of the 1044 votes cast to beat five other contestants for the ticket, at the party’s primary election held at the Youth Centre, Pankshin.
Mr Ignatius Longjan, former Deputy Governor to Ex-Governor Jonah Jang, on the same day picked the APC ticket to contest the Plateau South Senatorial seat.
In the party’s primary election held in Shendam, Longjan scored 972 votes to beat four others including Dame Pauline Tallen for the ticket.
Longjan is seeking to replace Senator Jeremiah Useni of the PDP, who has picked the ticket for the Governorship seat at the party’s primary held last Sunday, Sept. 30.
Details of the results as announced by the electoral officer, Mr Audu Isa, showed that Nanven Nimfel came second with 786 votes, while Jibrin Banchir, Pauline Tallen and Stephen Dashe scored 41, 9 and 5 votes respectively.
The former Deputy Speaker from Kanam Local Governemnt, is seeking to dislodge Rep Timothy Golu of Kanke Local Governemnt, who got the PDP ticket to return to the House come 2019.
Details of the results as announced by the electoral officer, Mr Mohammed Kumo from Gombe State, showed that Yohana Bawa Goma got 138 votes to come second, while David Bitrus Barji, Ezekiel Sabo, Daniel Gungung and Mankwat Gizo, scored 109, 55, 3 and 0 votes respectively, with 8 invalid votes recorded.
Our Correspondent reports that at the primary election for the Mango/Bokkos Federal Constituency seat, Mr Danjuma Haruna picked the ticket with 332 votes out of a total of 882 votes cast.
Haruna was the management committee chairman of Mangu local government but resigned to contest the APC primary for the constituency ticket.
In the results announced by the electoral retirning officer, Mr Demua L. Demua, Haruna beat seven other contestants, including former Rep Aminu Jonathan, who got 95 votes.
