2019: Dr Dabin, former PDP boss, emerges PPC Governorship candidate in Plateau

Dr Haruna Dabin, former Plateau Peoples Democratic Party  (PDP) Chairman, on Thursday emerged as gubernatorial candidate of Providence Peoples Congress (PPC) in Plateau.
Dabin’s candidature was affirmed at the party’s congress held at Panyam, Mangu Local Government, after his challenger, Engr Simput Dafur II, willingly stepped down for him.

Our correspondent reports that the congress brought about the emergence of other candidates for the forthcoming National and State Houses of Assembly elections.
Dabin had, before his affirmation as the party candidate, told the delegates that he was in the race to save Plateau from “bad leadership that is almost sending her to her knees.’’
The PPC governorship candidate lamented the neglect of the Education and Agricultural sectors as well as the security of the state by its past and current leaders.
“The challenges of the Plateau leadership in enormous, and unless one is endowed by God and receives daily grace to serve, one may end up being disgraced by history as it happened to some politicians.
“All I want is your support for me in this struggle, so that together we give Plateau the desired qualitative and purposeful leadership that will turn around its fortunes,’’ he pleaded.
The congress also saw emergence of Mr Daleng Gyang-Fulani, as senatorial candidate for Platea North and Prince David Yilbel, as senatorial candidate for Plateau Central Zone come 2019.
Other candidates that emerged in the congress supervised by INEC Officials, were those for the Houses of Reps and Houses of Assembly in the 17 Local Government of the state.
Dabin is gunning for the number one seat of the state for the second time, the first been 2011, when he resigned his position as PDP chairman to contest against his then Governor, Dr Jonah Jang, but lost.
Mrs Kaneng Gyang-Fulani, State PPC Chairman, commended the delegates of the party for making the congress a “huge success.’’
She said the next step was every member of the party to go in full swing campaigning for all the candidates of the party for total victory at the 2019 general elections.
