Ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Primary, top contender, Senator David Mark, has stated that whether by consensus or delegates election, free, fair, credible and transparent process must not be compromised.
Addressing PDP faithfuls in Lokoja, Kogi State Tuesday as part of his consultation to clinch the PDP ticket, Senator Mark added that whichever process is chosen by the party to elect its flag bearer, the will of the people must prevail.
He said he welcomes innovation but such must be anchored on the general interest of the people.
Senator Mark added; “I am contesting the Presidential election because I can make a positive difference for the good of the nation”.
The Presidential hopeful said he has designed an economic blueprint that would turn around the nation’s ailing economy within two years of his administration if elected.
His proposed economic model he termed “Project 730” would be anchored by young professionals selected from all parts of the country.
“I have something to offer. My programme would be premised on our unity, stability and prosperity of our nation. My word is my bond,” he stated.
State Chairman of the PDP, Dr. Sam Uhuotu, said Senator Mark has a rich credential that qualifies him to be elected President of Nigeria.
Uhuotu promised to canvass for Mark as the preferred choice for the Presidential ticket.
A party leader in Kogi State, Senator Tunde Ogbeha, Mark’s Campaign Director General, Senator Zainab Kure and Senator Suleiman Adokwe separately reeled out the sterling leadership qualities of the aspirant which they said were needed to lead the nation.
Recall that on Monday, former military head of state, General Abdulsalam Abubakar had said that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential aspirant, Senator David Mark is one of the capable hands needed to lead the nation out of the woods.
General Abdulsalam made this remark when he played host to Senator Mark’s Campaign Team in his Abuja residence, disclosing that the latter has over the years demonstrated unwavering commitment and service to his fatherland.
“Both as a military officer and politician, Senator Mark has proved to be a reliable and competent administrator. The nation would benefit from his wealth of experience if given the mandate to be President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the former Head of State said.
He added that Senator Mark where ever he served, left a legacy of meritorious service. “David always make his mark,” he said.
Abdulsalam said he was pleased to note that the PDP is putting its house in order and playing the role of opposition party hoping that the 2019 elections would be free, fair and credible.
He counseled political parties, aspirants and supporters to play the game according to the rules adding that only the wishes of the people should endure.
Earlier, the PDP Presidential hopeful (Mark) told his host that he is prepared for the contest believing that his track record to the nation puts him in a better stead to lead the nation.
