2019: PDP stakeholders endorse Mantu’s son for Mangu/Bokkos Reps seat

Barely a week to Plateau PDP Primaries, some stakeholders on Tuesday endorsed Senator Ibrahim Mantu’s son, Dr Umar, for the House of Representative seat of Mangu/Bokkos Constituency.
Everyday.ng reports that the endorsement, which took place in Bokkos, was done by elders, women and youths who are delegates and have voting rights in the state’s Sept. 19 primaries.
During the stakeholders meeting, Mr Yohana Markus, from Toff Ward in Bokkos, moved the motion for Mantu’s endorsement and the congress affirmed it.
Responding, Mantu thanked the stakeholders for finding him worthy and endorsing his as the PDP sole candidate for the 2019 elections.
“This endorsement has no doubt strengthened and encouraged me to go into the race with all vigour to win the 2019 election and give my people the desired quality and effective representation.
“I hereby promise not to disappoint you for this singular trust and responsibility you just bestowed on me with this endorsement,’’ Mantu stated.
Speaking to Everyday.ng shortly after the endorsement, Mrs Sarah Damar-Kerang, from Mangu Local Government, described Mantu as a “vibrant and promising youth,’’ who has all it takes to give us quality representation as a lawyer.’’
“Legislation is all about law, and Mantu is a lawyer, therefore we believe he is the right and best person that should go to the National Assembly and give us quality representation,’’ she asserted.
Mr Emmanuel Mashat, Secretary of Traders and Marketing Association, Bokkos Branch, said that the people of Bokkos have immensely benefitted from Dr Umar’s Foundation, and expressed the hope that if in the National Assembly more goodies would come to the constituency.
“We know Mantu as a “detribalized’’ person, and we believe he will carry all the people of the constituency along in his representation, ’’ he said.
Also speaking, Danlami Luka, one of the youths, while noting that youthful Mantu is the choice of the youths in the constituency, appealed to the electorate not to use religion to block his chances.
