Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State on Monday said he was confident that the Peoples Democratic Party will win the State in the 2019 general elections.
The governor and his political godfather, Dr. Bukola Saraki, the Senate President as well as their followers last month defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to PDP.
Receiving the newly inaugurated the State Working Committee (SWC) of PDP, Governor Ahmed said, “with the timber and calibre of the people that made up the party executive, the victory of the party is guaranteed”.
He saluted the maturity displayed in handling the harmonization process of inherited members of the PDP and new ones to form the executive and tasked them to work hard in ensuring good governance in Kwara state.
The peaceful atmosphere that greeted the harmonisation process, he said further, confirmed the politics of all-inclusiveness the party is known for.
He also allayed the fear of all members that no one would be marginalized and enjoined all members to close rank and work hand-in-hand in ensuring that PDP forms government in the state in the coming elections.
Earlier in his remarks, the State’s party chairman, Engr Kola Shittu, explained that the new executive had continued to work assiduously in the harmonisation of members since its inauguration adding that all groups were duly carried along.
He used the opportunity to call on other members yet to join the party fold to come forward, promising that no one would be marginalized as the party treads on.
